According to a Department of Justice announcement in December 2016, the Government has recovered over $4.7 billion from False Claims Act cases in fiscal year 2016.

The total amount recovered under the False Claims Act since 1987 is exceeds a whopping $53.1 billion. According to TAF Education Fund’s Patrick Burns, $53 billion is equal to a stack of $100 bills over 36 miles high.
