Pennsylvania and Ohio Remain Vulnerable to Healthcare Fraudsters

Recently, Vermont joined 31 other states and the District of Columbia to pass State False Claims Act legislation to protect its citizens from Medicaid fraud. Each year, these protected states represent over 73% of the annual Medicaid expenditures. in the last presidential election, these states accounted for a whopping 391 Electoral College votes, well above the 270 votes needed to secure the presidency. The lengthy list of FCA-protected states includes Red States, Blue States, big states and little states.

Two noticeable gaps on the State FCA map – are Pennsylvania and Ohio. With healthcare fraudsters scoping out the easiest targets, these two states are, in effect, rolling out the welcome mat for healthcare fraud schemes. The citizens of Pennsylvania and Ohio deserve better.
